LTD DIVISION SPECIFICATIONS
Leadline: For riders 7 years of age and under. Rider not eligible for any other classes and must not have competed in any class other than Leadline. Rider to be led at the walk. Pony to be on lead at all times. Division consists of three classes: (1) 100% pony suitability and manners; (2) 100% rider equitation; and (3) 50% equitation/50% pony suitability.
*Lead-line Riders may compete in walk (only) of Pre-Short Stirrup or Pony Pleasure @ the year end show. Our shows are for rider education. Riders growing and becoming independent of the lead-line is encouraged. However, once a rider competes in the PSS classes they may not return to competition in the Lead-line division.
Pre-Short Stirrup Equitation: May not cross enter in any other Equitation class. For riders 10 years of age and under. May cross enter into pleasure walk/trot and go as you please but must not have ever competed over fences or shown at the canter. Divisions consist of three classes: (1) Walk; (2) Walk & trot; and (3) Walk, trot, sit-trot, & jump position at the walk.
Short Stirrup Equitation: May not cross enter in any other equitation class. For riders 11 years and under. May not enter any classes where fences exceed 18” Must not have shown at any show over jumps exceeding 18”. Division consists of three classes (1) walk and trot (2) 4 fences at 18” – may trot of canter (3) same as class 2.
Short Stirrup: For riders 12 years and under. May not enter any classes where fences exceed 18”. Division consists of three classes: (1) Walk & trot; (2) 4 fences at 18” - may trot or canter; and (3) same as class 2.
Student Equitation: For riders in their 1st or 2nd year of showing at 2’ or higher. Jumps not to exceed 2’. Divisions consist of three classes: (1) 4-6 fences at 2’; (2) same as class 1; and (3) Walk, trot and canter. Riders may trot or canter over fences and simple changes are permitted.
Maiden Hunter/Low Hunter: Open to horses and ponies in their first year of showing over fences at 2’ or higher as of Dec 1st of the current show year. No restrictions on riders. Jump height to be a minimum of 2’. Courses may be trotted if stated in the Prize List.
Green Pony Hunter: Open to ponies in their FIRST year of showing at regulation heights or higher, ridden by Juniors. Small: 2’ Medium: 2’3” Large: 2’6”
Pony Hunter: For Junior riders. Small ponies not to exceed 12.2h and to jump 2’; Medium ponies are over 12.2h but not to exceed 13.2h and to jump 2’ 3”. Large ponies are over 13.2h but not to exceed 14.2h and jump 2’6”. Will be split if enough entries
Pony Pleasure: Open to Junior Riders only. Division consists of three classes; (1) Walk & trot; (2) Walk, trot & canter; (3) Walk & go-as-you-please.
Pony Equitation Classic: One class for Junior riders. Judged on hands, seat, guidance and control of mount. To be ridden over a separate course of at least 6 fences. At least 1/4 of riders completing the course will return to work on the flat. Over fences phase to count 50%, flat phase 50%. Run in accordance with VHSA guidelines. Small ponies to jump 2’, medium ponies to jump2’3”, large ponies to jump 2’6”.
OTTB/TIP: (Hunter in Hand, cross rails, EP W/T ): Open to thoroughbred horses that are off-track MUST HAVE TIP NUMBER! cross rails are 12" high.
Low Hunter/TIP: Open to horses and ponies. No restrictions on riders. Jump height for lows to be minimum of 2’ and not exceed 2’3”. The division will be split if entries warrant. TIP entries must have TIP number.
Horse Pleasure: Open to Juniors or Adults on horses. Division is the same classes as Hunter Pony Pleasure. If class is split into Junior and Adult, the same horse can not compete in both Pleasure Divisions.
Schooling Hunter: Open to horses and ponies. Adults may ride ponies not entered in a Pony Division. Jump height for Schooling to be a minimum of 2’6” and not to exceed 3’. The division will split if entries warrant.
Green Hunter: Open to horses in their FIRST or SECOND year of showing at 2’6” or higher. Jumps to be a minimum of 2’6”.
Child/Adult Amateur Hunter: For Junior Riders and Open to adults who qualify as amateurs on horses over 14.2h and to jump 2’6” or 3’ (rider’s choice). Will be split if enough entries.
Children’s Hunter Equitation Classic: One class for Junior riders. Judged on hands, seat, guidance and control of mount. To be ridden over a separate course of at least 6 fences.
